This project is being developed in partnership with a local Microfinance Bank with self-contained 2bd apartment units with formal property rights having a target sale price of +/- US$25,000. This is AHB’s initial “social housing” project that is being piloted with 400 units in 2015 and scaled up in 2016. The goal of this project is to deliver a supply of formal low-cost housing units in a non-traditional format (apartments) to provide an alternative to oppressive rental housing for Accra’s lower-income residents. AHB is working to lower the cost of formal housing in Ghana by deploying efficient construction technologies and AHB is increasing access to housing by innovating new financing partnerships that extend mortgage opportunities to clients unable to meet traditional mortgage qualification criteria.
